After 7 years of service in an eligible position an employee's eligible children may be awarded up to half of Colgate's tuition to attend an accredited college, university or trade school of their choice.

Department Statement:

Founded in 1819, Colgate is a small, highly selective residential liberal arts college for students of talent who are preparing for lives of leadership and productive citizenship. Colgate University enjoys a strong tradition of philanthropy and engagement and is currently engaged in a historic comprehensive campaign with a goal of $1B. To date, the Campaign for the Third Century has raised over $600M towards this goal.
The Office of Annual Giving helps alumni, families, students, and friends contribute directly to the Colgate experience through support of financial aid, student life initiatives, academic programs, research projects, the arts, athletics, and more. The Annual Giving team is charged with boosting the alumni giving rate, meeting Colgate Fund goals ($10M in FY24) and driving Presidents' Circle membership including family and student membership. They achieve this goal through marketing, volunteer engagement, outreach, and events.

Accountabilities:

The Assistant Director, Annual Giving (Recent Alumni and Student Philanthropy focus) is responsible for the development and execution of philanthropy programs for recent alumni (defined as alumni who have graduated in the last 13 years) and current students (which includes the senior gift initiative) with a goal of increasing student and recent alumni participation in giving to the University. Specifically, this position is:-Responsible for the effective identification, recruitment, management, training, stewardship and engagement of student and recent alumni volunteers-Accountable for the creation and delivery of programs and events to strengthen the connection and philanthropic engagement of student and recent alumni volunteers with an ultimate goal of increasing participatory giving-Responsible for the effective identification, recruitment, management, and training of paid annual giving student fundraisers-Accountable for the successful execution of marketing initiatives for students and recent alumni, as well as assisting with execution of general Annual Giving marketing initiatives

Professional Experience/ Qualifications:

-A minimum of two years of professional experience in fundraising, alumni relations, sales, marketing, event planning, non-profit organizations, and/or related fields-Demonstrated experience developing and implementing programs and meeting measurable goals-Experience or aptitude for measuring success and reporting on programs with quantitative and qualitative data-Must be able to work collegially and effectively with a diverse group of alumni, students, faculty, and staff on a daily basis-Enthusiastic commitment to advancing the University's mission-Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications-Providing staff support for Colgate's annual Reunion Weekend is a requirement of the position

Preferred Qualifications:

-Professional and/or volunteer experience with annual giving, fundraising, alumni relations, marketing, and/or related fields in a higher education setting- Experience motivating internal and external stakeholders to achieve mutual goals
