Position Summary:The Department of Physical Therapy in the School of Education and Health Sciences at North Central College is excited to announce a search for an individual to join an innovative Doctor of Physical Therapy Program built on a liberal arts foundation. The program prepares physical therapists to navigate the complexities of future healthcare systems with strong skills in movement science, relationship and patient/client-centered care, professionalism, communication, and technology.
Program highlights include:

- Utilization of innovative pedagogical ideas integrated with technology to deliver a curriculum built on a liberal arts and movement science foundation.
- The position is a 12-month position with eligibility for competitive salaries, benefits, sabbatical, pro-term semester, and professional development and scholarship support. Faculty rank is commensurate with experience and credentials.
We are currently seeking a dynamic and innovative individual with expertise in neurologic or pediatric physical therapy to join our team. Individuals with expertise in other areas of physical therapy care also are strongly encouraged to apply. Individuals who enjoy working collaboratively with others, enjoy working closely with students, and have an interest in being innovative in physical therapy education are encouraged to apply. Start date is negotiable.
The duties in this role include:
- 20 credit-hour load with the Physical Therapy Department curriculum.
- Support the co-curricular experiences of the students and be an active and engaged member in the Department of Physical Therapy and the School of Education and Health Sciences.
- Producing primary and secondary artifacts in alignment with departmental professional standards.
- Participate in service to the department, including but not limited to: searches, student group advising, admissions days and outreach, curricular oversight and implementation.
- Participate in college-wide service, including required meetings and events and major service roles.
Basic qualifications are required at the time of application:
- Earned or in progress academic doctorate (PhD, EdD, etc.) from an accredited institution.
- A licensed physical therapist in the state of Illinois or be eligible for and have intent to obtain physical therapist licensure in Illinois.
- Have the ability to function well within a collegial and collaborative environment.
- Have the ability to live by and role model the mission, vision, values, and commitment of the North Central College Doctor of Physical Therapy Program.
- Have contemporary expertise in one or more content areas taught within physical therapy curriculum.
- Applicants must demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring of students, and ongoing scholarship.
Preferred qualifications (not required qualifications for the position):
- Demonstrate evidence of an ongoing or developing record of a scholarly agenda or the potential to develop a scholarly agenda.
- Experience working with diverse student populations and communities is highly desirable.
