Position Summary

Job Description:
Applications are invited for an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Visual & Performing Arts to teach courses in music production in our Music Industries studies program. Other duties include holding office hours and communicating with department faculty and administration.

Candidates should have a bachelors in music or related area and a minimum of 5 years of professional experience
in their discipline. Extensive studio recording and music production experience is required. Candidates will demonstrate excellence and experience in their field, and will be well versed in the following Digital Audio Workstation software: Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Ableton Live. Experience with Dolby Atmos is essential and Avid/Pro Tools certification is preferred. Additionally, it is highly desired that candidates have experience teaching in an online format.

Outcome:
The department seeks an instructor that could teach in a sequence of courses in Music Production.

MUSIC PRODUCTION 1 focuses on developing the complex skill involved in computer-based audio production and digital audio mixing consoles as it applies to music, radio, and video production. The Federal Communication Commission's rules and regulations that apply to the practical issues of audio production will also be discussed.

MUSIC PRODUCTION 2 provides an intensive analysis of field and studio recording techniques with an emphasis on multi-track audio production and engineering. Techniques of music production, sound design, and live/field recording are examined.

Essential Functions

  • Orients and maintains current knowledge related to facilities policies and procedures.
  • Keeps the department chair informed of all student and agency issues and concerns.
  • Works with college administration, staff and other faculty members to improve the overall operation of the college and student success rates.
  • Serves as a professional role model for other faculty, staff, and students in the area of customer service, collaboration, communication, excellence, dress, attendance, and general professionalism.
  • Evaluates assignments in a timely manner. Provides feedback to student on level of performance based on course objectives.
  • Adheres to applicable regulatory rules and standards.
  • Experience and Education Required

    Candidates should have a bachelors in music or related area (masters preferred) and a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in music production. Extensive studio recording and music production experience is required. Collegiate-level teaching experience preferred.
