About the Role

The Accountant II will be responsible for the Fixed Assets process. They will utilize Oracle, Jira, and other systems to create accurate journal entries for month-end close. This person will work with various teams to research invoices/projects and assist leadership with ongoing ad hoc projects. This role supports the accounting and finance teams by providing explanations of variances to budget, forecast, and prior period fluctuations. They will analyze and compile data for reconciliations and other support schedules. They will monitor compliance with GAAP and company procedures. They will keep current on accounting pronouncements and maintain up-to-date policies as they look to improve processes. This person will serve as the point of contact for questions regarding fixed assets.

What the Candidate Will Do

  • Monthly Accounting responsibilities specifically related to fixed assets
  • Monthly and Quarterly Close responsibilities
  • Monthly Account Reconciliations for assigned accounts
  • Run reports and calculate how much employee and contractor time was spent on capitalizable software
  • Prepare the Fixed Asset Register to be used by the tax team for personal property tax; assist with property tax renditions
  • Compile the Fixed Asset Roll forward for each ledger as well as a consolidated view
  • Contact various Project Managers to determine the status of each project
  • Review the GL for items mistakenly coded (expense vs capitalizable)
  • Tax & Audit Support
  • Documentation / Research / Special Projects

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 2 years of General Ledger Accounting Experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred
  • Proficient computer skills including e-mail, Word, and Excel (Advanced Excel preferred)
  • Experience with major ERP system required (Oracle, SAP, etc.)
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departmental functions and with external users of financial information
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities, able to translate metrics, research, and trends into strategy and action
  • Builds effective and constructive relationships. Ability to explain complicated accounting regulations in a way that is understandable to someone with limited knowledge.
  • The ability to balance attention to detail with swift execution
