The Cantor's encyclopedic collection spans 5,000 years and includes more than 40,000 works of art from around the globe. An established resource for teaching and research on campus, the Cantor offers free admission and programs year-round. It is consistently one of the most visited university museums in the U.S.Reporting to the Associate Director of Academic and Public Programs, the Academic Engagement Associate will provide administrative and operational support to the Cantor Arts Center academic engagement programs working with limited supervision. This position will be the point person for academic engagement programs including Cantor-Anderson Student Guides, Stanford class visits to the Cantor, Internships for Stanford students, Cantor Scholars, Cantor Curatorial Fellows, and Art & Boba Talks.Come join us for an exciting opportunity to shape the future of student engagement at the Stanford art museums and support faculty and other members of the campus community in creating connections with the amazing resources the Cantor Arts Center has to offer. In this role, you will:

    Manage administration for academic engagement programs at the Cantor Arts Center.Schedule Stanford class visits to the Cantor Arts Center. Manage reservations for classrooms and collection viewing rooms for class visits and research visits. Coordinate arrangements with the Collections Department to arrange for the display of objects from the Cantor collections for Stanford class visits and research visits. Monitor and assist with class visits as required.Manage scheduling, logistics, and technical aspects of academic engagement programs, including talks, seminars, conferences, and symposia, the Cantor-Anderson Student Guides training class, and community events for student workers. Manage scheduling and other logistical matters for guest speakers and visiting artists at these programs.Manage communication for academic engagement programs and correspondence with students, faculty, and staff. Respond to inquiries regarding academic engagement programs, determine and take appropriate action as required. Serve as a resource regarding academic engagement program policies and procedures. Liaise with the Cantor/Anderson Marketing and Communication team to promote student and academic engagement programs and ensure accurate and current information is presented in relation to these programs on the Cantor website.Assist with training Cantor-Anderson Student Guides, and assist in developing and coordinating shared training involving Student Guides and volunteer Museum Engagement Guides. Send weekly emails to Cantor-Anderson Student Guides. Organize and distribute Student Guides course materials including syllabus and readings.Compose and distribute calls for applications.Manage and review incoming applications for academic engagement programs. Assist in interviewing applicants for student worker positions at the Cantor. Liaise with Cantor Operations Manager to manage hiring paperwork for student workers, including I9s.Manage scheduling, approve timesheets, review work for quality and timeliness, and provide performance review input for student workers.Assist with research and outreach for academic engagement programs. Assist the Director and Associate Director of Academic and Public Programs with campus academic outreach and strengthening campus academic partnerships and with researching Cantor collections to prepare for Stanford class visits and Research visits. May assist the Director of Academic and Public Programs with research related to curricular and student-curated exhibitions.Develop and strengthen partnerships with student groups for programs at which student performance groups regularly perform, including Party on the Edge, Museum Nights, and Family Day. Provide event support and host and coordinate for student performing groups at these programs.* - Other duties may also be assigned.
Please note that this position will be based on the Stanford campus and will be considered hybrid with the expectation to be on campus 3-4 days per week depending on events. In addition, this position may require working evenings and weekends. In order to be successful, you will bring:
โ— High school diploma and four years of administrative experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
