Job Description:

DATES OF EMPLOYMENT: May 19, 2025 to August 18, 2025 preferred, but flexible
JOB DUTIES: This position will be tasked with many duties related to fisheries management and aquatic resource conservation related to invasive species. Primary duties will include attending and presenting at public education events to widely varied audiences, surveying for various aquatic invasive species (AIS), performing chemical treatments on invasive vegetation under the supervision of the AIS Program Biologist, assisting with zebra mussel early detection and rapid response efforts via sample collection and analysis, assembling education and outreach materials, maintaining organization of education and outreach materials, conducting watercraft inspections on assigned waterbodies, and performing routine boat and trailer maintenance. This position may assist with fisheries management activities, material transport, hatchery inspections, and other duties as assigned by the AIS Program Biologist and Program Manager. This position will require working non-traditional hours, including weekend, evening, and holiday work, and will be expected to travel infrequently. This position will be required to work in adverse weather conditions and will require some in-office work.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:1 year experience OR 1 year coursework/training in fisheries management, natural resources, biology, and/or agriculture.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in wildlife, fisheries, natural resources or biology. Applicants with Pesticide Applicators license and Class A CDL license with O endorsement.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: General knowledge of aquatic ecology, fisheries management and/or aquatic invasive species. Good communication and public interaction/customer service skills; ability to maintain simple records and complete surveys on a tablet; ability to operate hand and power tools (heated pressure washer); ability to obtain a Pesticide Applicator License if needed; ability to operate a pickup with trailer as well as a motorboat.
